2022 SPEEDBOAT SPECTACULAR CANCELLED

SPEEDBOAT SPECTACULAR CANCELLED
It is much regret that we advise that the St George Speedboat Spectacular, incorporating five Australian championships and several extremely popular local races, programmed for 16-17th July, has been cancelled.
The Race Committee has struggled to evaluate all the necessary issues that have been arising in the Sydney region over the past week. The bottom line is that we have erred on the side of safety along with the wish to give competitors plenty of time for the notice.
Some of the competitors were travelling long distances while others were contemplating there whole life and welfare and another flood (yes – 3 this year for some). In addition, quite a few of our volunteers reside in the flood stricken region. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted by get another flood.
Locally, down in Kogarah Bay, it is fed by the Georges River that extends near 100km into the flooded catchments near Sydney. Our local Maritime officers have informed us that rubbish (ie big logs) will continue to float down the river for quite some time.
Unfortunately there are no other available dates to which the Spectacular could be postponed
We thanks all the competitors who had entered the event early and thank them for their enthusiasm.
We can only look forward to next year and hope that you will support us in 2023.
