Dear Aquatic Club Members and Friends,
It is with much regret that I must inform you that the Speedboat Spectacular scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled due to the appalling weather conditions.
Southerly winds are expected throughout the weekend, 30 knots for Saturday and at least 15 to 20 knots for Sunday. I am advised that the roads to Sydney from over the mountains, and from Canberra have been closed.
It has been decided to take the decision early to minimise the inconvenience to all involved. The park adjacent to the St. George Motor Boat Club is flooded and unavailable for at least several days.
We are very conscious of the risks involved and the bottom line is simply that the risk of proceeding is too great.
Many people have put in a great deal of effort to organise the racing and I am sure everyone is as disappointed as I that we have again been beaten by the weather.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so much. A decision as to the next spectacular will be taken in due course.
